Black Diamond Bionic Crampon

September 9th, 2008 admin No comments
Details
An ideal fusion of sensitivity and frontpoint precision, the Bionic is a horizontally-railed, semi-rigid crampon that allows you to use your feet like they were meant to be used. Their low-profile design matches your boot flex, giving you a keen feel for the terrain and rock shoe-like performance. Tapered vertical frontpoints provide precision and penetration-you can sight in on divots, slots, and bumps-and hit them with the first shot. Set the frontpoints as duals or monos and move them forward and backward to tune them to the terrain of the day. Plus, for added frontpoint stability, the Bionics have the same second-point configuration as the Sabretooths. Top this off with a fast-adjust clip and you’ve got a high-tech, paradigm-breaking crampon that you can take into the next dimension of ice climbing. Weight: 1.18 kg (2 lb 9.6 oz) Sizes: S/M, M/L.

Detail:
Years of climbing and engineering went into these five new micro Camalots. What you expect from the Camalots is varied range, strength in multiple configurations, minimal head width and superior durability-and Camalot C3’s are no exception. Covering placements from 7.8 to 22.6 mm these micro cams are a great addition to the Camalot line.

Ascender, basic – X-Cam Compact

July 16th, 2008 admin No comments

X-Cam is a completely new ascender cam design, which gives a considerable increase in performance over traditional sharp toothed models.

When tested on new Tectra 11 mm low stretch rope, these ascenders were found to be 25% stronger than their most popular sharp toothed competitor, with average breaking loads of around 675 kg for X-cams versus 535 kg for the established design.

However, the greatest increase in performance is exhibited if the ascender continues to be loaded after the sheath of the rope has ruptured.
In this situation, X-Cams will hold up to 200 kg on the broken sheath and rope cores. Established toothed designs supported only around 30kg in heightec tests – nowhere near enough to support a person.
heightec X-Cam ascenders therefore significantly reduce the possibility of complete system failure by exerting a considerable hold on a rope after the sheath has broken.
Available early in 2007. Contact us for more details.
